Emski_cosplays may be relatively new to the cosplay scene, but her passion for performance, craftsmanship, and creativity has already made a huge impact. Officially beginning her cosplay journey in 2024, Emski quickly dove headfirst into the world of sewing, prop making, and competitive cosplay after years of loving costumes, pop culture, and Halloween creativity. Known for her love of Harley Quinn, particularly Margot Robbie’s live-action interpretation, she has already created multiple versions of the iconic character alongside impressive builds including Maleficent, Barbie, and a hilariously cursed Ashby Lorax cosplay. From her early “mattress foam and hot glue” beginnings to building giant mechanical Maleficent wings and movie-accurate dresses, her growth as a maker has been nothing short of remarkable.

Armed with a treasured 30-year-old Janome sewing machine passed down through her family and plenty of trial and error, Emski taught herself everything from basic stitching to self-drafting patterns and ambitious large-scale builds. Cosplay has become both a creative outlet and a source of confidence, allowing her to combine her love of crafting with her passion for performance through skit competitions. After taking home her first skit award at Supernova in 2024 – and later winning Best in Show at the 2025 Oz Comic-Con cosplay competition – she discovered just how powerful cosplay can be in bringing people together and inspiring others.

One of Emski’s favourite cosplay memories came after a Harley Quinn skit performance, when a young Harley fan worked up the courage to ask for a photo and excitedly shared her dream of performing on stage one day too. It’s moments like these that fuel Emski’s passion for positivity, inclusion, and encouraging others to embrace creativity without fear of judgement. Through cosplay, she hopes to continue giving back to the community that welcomed her so warmly while inspiring others to proudly be their weird, wacky, authentic selves.
